1. Pledge a penny or two or three (or any amount you want!) per page that you read. Put a minimum number that you will pledge. For example: 100 pages – $1.00. And then donate the amount to your favorite charity.

This is such an amazing idea! I’m pledging a penny for every page I read
Montana, thank YOU! for being a part of this event of giving and receiving. Looking forward to reading with you and thank you for the pledge. Every penny counts! Happy holidays.
Laurie, what a wonderful place to donate! I looked at the site and was impressed with all the organizations that partner with First Book. Thank you so much for your four years of commitment to the Holiday #Readathon! You’ve been with us since the beginning and your support continues to inspire me. All the best and happy holidays!
Thanks for the invite, Liza! (via the FicFare/Swoony Boys read-along FB page) I love the idea. I haven’t had a chance to look at the mini-challenges, yet, but will do so soon and see which of those I can take part in as well. Thanks (ps – since I don’t have a blog, I’ve entered my Twitter url in the Linky, hope that’s okay. I can change it to my Goodreads profile if you prefer!)
Liza, this is a wonderful idea! As we do every year, my class is participating in the Pajama Program which is partnered with Scholastic Book Clubs. For every pair or PJs donated, Scholastic matches it with a book. I pledge to donate one pair of PJs for each book my students read during the Read-A-Thon:) Nothing like getting the kids involved too!
Amy, I haven’t heard of the Scholastic Book Club/PJs Program, but I love it! What an amazing way to get kids to snuggle up and read. Thank you so much for your participation. Wishing you a very happy holiday season and happy reading!
Holly, so thrilled you’re joining us! Using your Twitter page is perfect. Looking forward to reading and sharing the spirit of the holidays with you. And isn’t FicFare/Swoonyboys Readalongs the best? People can check it out here:https://www.facebook.com/groups/523957697660017/ Next one: December 13th & 14th for our readalong of My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick! One of my all time favorite YA contemporary novels! Happy holidays!
Thanks for inviting me back for another year of the Readathon! I’m currently brainstorming a mini-challenge idea, but as soon as I figure one out I’ll let you know!! =)
I am donating some books and coats to the book drive that Candace’s Book Blog is organizing -http://www.candacesbookblog.com/2013/11/book-drive-update-donations-still-being.html- and we always pick an angel or two from the Salvation Army’s Christmas tree to sponsor. Thanks for organizing the read-a-thon and encouraging the spirit of the season.
I kept thinking I’d already officially signed up for this, and then realized I hadn’t. So here’s me officially signing up! I can’t wait to get reading

Signed up! I have a bunch of extra clothes that I don’t wear and that won’t fit in my suitcase when I go home for winter break, so this is the perfect opportunity to donate them! Plus I started reading FANGIRL by Rainbow Rowell so this is also the perfect opportunity to make more time for pleasure reading as a busy college student! Yay! Will be Tweeting along (@nerdwithavoice)
So happy you’re joining us, Talia!!! And I loved FANGIRL. I read the book and listened to the audio. Great donation idea. Happy reading. Enjoy the mini-challenges/giveaways.

Very excited! As I am every year. 😉
I am super excited to be joining this read-a-thon this year. I will be donating 0.1 cent to salvation army for each page I read and volunteering at my local food bank or homeless shelter giving food.
Beckie, that’s amazing!Thank you so much for participating and for your generosity. Happy reading and happy holidays! Enjoy.
Finally found amazing read-a-thon! Yay! Dying to participate.
I’ve donated some companies by buying books on BetterWorldBooks.
Vendea, I love that! Happy reading and happy holidays! I’ll see you on Twitter. Thank you for joining and celebrating with all of us!
So I know my time will be tight this weekend but I will donate a penny for every page I read. Plus, if I can squeeze more time that I thought, I will add 1 hour of volunteering for every 100 pages I read.
Wow, Jamie! That’s awesome. Whatever amount of time you have to read is perfect! Thank you so much for your participation. Enjoy and happy holidays!
I’m making Christmas groceries this Sunday with my mom, we usually pick up canned foods and dried goods which are donated in a charity organisation in my mom’s company. I’m also going through my bookshelf and any toys I have so they can be given to the one of my mom’s coworkers. He has an eight year old daughter, they aren’t too well off and they’re very kind people, so around Christmas we always try to give them a basket of goodies. Thank you for this readathon and the giveaway.
Isa, what a wonderful thing to do with your mom and so wonderful to pass on books and toys to someone who needs them and will appreciate them! Beautiful. Thank you so much for participating. Happy holidays and have fun!!!!!
What a great idea. Love this and will have so much fun with it. I’m also # 100 to sign up!! Woot!! Lucky number. 😉
One of the clubs I’m in is getting together and doing a bake sale of sorts to collect cans and money donations to give to either our local soup kitchen or the local women’s shelter. It’s a great idea to remember those less fortunate, especially this time of year! Happy Holidays to all and see you around the Twitter (and blog) verse!
I pledge to donate a can of food to St. Mary’s Food Bank for every chapter I read! What a great idea!
What I am doing charity wise…I have three big bags of clothing and other items which I’m donating to a charity called HOPE. It’s a shelter for abused women and their children. Also, I have pledged to give at least a dollar once a day (or more) during the holiday season to the homeless workers that stand on various street corners. Here in Nashville, we have a newspaper called The Contributor that these people “sell” to passers by. The Contributor provides homeless and formerly homeless newspaper vendors with a source of income.
You can read more about it at my read-a-thon post.
Thanks for hosting!
[…] I’m honored to be part of WhoRuBlog’s 4th Annual Holiday Read-A-Thon. […]
I will donating 1 cent per page read this weekend to Kids Need To Read. They’ve helped out a few libraries and schools in my area, which is really awesome! Plus the charity is Co Founded by Nathan Fillion (My captain!) One of my favorite actors of all time!
A charity that gives books to kids – a sweet arrow right to my heart. Thanks, Melissa, for your participation. Wishing you a happy holiday. Have fun with the readathon.
So, so happy you could join us! (And happy birthday on December 8th!!!!)
<3 this! A can of food for every chapter read! Thank you for participating in the Holiday #Readathon. Wishing you much joy this holiday season and enjoy all the wonderful mini-challenges and giveaways!
Katie, the bake sale is a very cool idea to get food for the shelter and soup kitchen. Very inspiring. And I look forward to connecting with you on Twitter! Happy reading and much joy during this holiday season and the coming year!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was so happy to wake up and see that no only did we reach 100, but have surpassed it. And hey, who knows how many people will still sign up before the end? Thanks for participating. Happy reading, Jennifer!!!!
I thought I had commented earlier, but maybe I didn’t hit submit or something…who knows 😉 Anyhoo, we are taking the kids shopping tonight for a boy and a girl from an “Angel Tree”. We do this every year and has become a favorite tradition. Our kids can select whatever we want, no price tags, no limit — and every year we see more growth and maturity in what they choose.
Yay! It’s time! I started at midnight, but need to get my post up on my Goodreads page. This year I have decided to donate a penny for every page read up to $5.00 or 500 pages to the Salvation Army. I generally try to put my pocket change in the bucket anyway, but this way I’m making sure of the amount given and around here Salvation Army is pretty major. I read mainly Kindle books, so a lot of time I don’t see or get a total page number count. SO I will see if the page count is listed on Goodreads, if it isn’t for the Kindle edition I will go by the page count of the most recent edition of that book listed. I think my daughter my read a little too this year, but I’m not sure. I usually don’t get 500 pages lately during read-a-thons, but I am certainly going to try! Have fun everyone!
Thanks for hosting this readathon! Perfect way to spend my snow day. I’m also participating in your act of kindness challenge by pledging to donate books to my local library. I’ll be looking around at the other challenges to see if I can do any others.
Britney, I am so glad you have a snow day! Thank you for joining us!! Happy reading & enjoy.
Thank you for hosting this read-a-thon! I will be donating books to my library, because they need books. My old library gets way more funding than my current library.
This is so exciting! Can’t wait to participate.
Alyssa, so glad that you are!!! Have a blast with all the AMAZING mini-challenges! Happy holidays and reading!
This is great! I’ve never done an online readathon before. I’m pretty busy this weekend, but I’m going to try my best! Thanks for hosting this!
Yay! I joined, my first time! How exciting!! :)Thank you Liza for hosting.
I’m going to donate some change for each chapter I read. Happy Reading!
Oh I’m so excited to be joining! I can’t wait to read away this weekend
Oh and I did donate at my work to the relief fund for the Philippines. I donated 3$..idk if this counts because I donated today before reading..but I’m definitely going to be reading 300 pages haha! 😉
I plan to choose a family from the Angel tree that my local library is hosting! I was already going to choose one, but to count for the #HolidayReadathon, I will choose one more! Thanks for this!
So happy to find this! I pledge a penny a page & will donate to increase our donation to CEASE, Inc., a local organization that provides assistance to victims of domestic violence. We did a fundraiser this past week, but I wil encourage students to do this as well to help make a bigger impact.
This is awesome! Happy Holidays!
