In fact, I’m offering YOU the chance to decide what I make a video about! I could review a book you’ve wanted to read, ramble on the topic of your choice, make a fool of myself with a goofy challenge, or I can just dedicate something to you! I’m willing to be flexible and if you win, we can figure it out. Thanks and happy reading! So, go to my blog and enter!

Thanks for the invite, Liza! (via the FicFare/Swoony Boys read-along FB page) I love the idea. I haven’t had a chance to look at the mini-challenges, yet, but will do so soon and see which of those I can take part in as well. Thanks :-) (ps – since I don’t have a blog, I’ve entered my Twitter url in the Linky, hope that’s okay. I can change it to my Goodreads profile if you prefer!)

Liza, this is a wonderful idea! As we do every year, my class is participating in the Pajama Program which is partnered with Scholastic Book Clubs. For every pair or PJs donated, Scholastic matches it with a book. I pledge to donate one pair of PJs for each book my students read during the Read-A-Thon:) Nothing like getting the kids involved too!

I’m making Christmas groceries this Sunday with my mom, we usually pick up canned foods and dried goods which are donated in a charity organisation in my mom’s company. I’m also going through my bookshelf and any toys I have so they can be given to the one of my mom’s coworkers. He has an eight year old daughter, they aren’t too well off and they’re very kind people, so around Christmas we always try to give them a basket of goodies. Thank you for this readathon and the giveaway. :)

What I am doing charity wise…I have three big bags of clothing and other items which I’m donating to a charity called HOPE. It’s a shelter for abused women and their children. Also, I have pledged to give at least a dollar once a day (or more) during the holiday season to the homeless workers that stand on various street corners. Here in Nashville, we have a newspaper called The Contributor that these people “sell” to passers by. The Contributor provides homeless and formerly homeless newspaper vendors with a source of income.

You can read more about it at my read-a-thon post.

Thanks for hosting!

I thought I had commented earlier, but maybe I didn’t hit submit or something…who knows 😉 Anyhoo, we are taking the kids shopping tonight for a boy and a girl from an “Angel Tree”. We do this every year and has become a favorite tradition. Our kids can select whatever we want, no price tags, no limit — and every year we see more growth and maturity in what they choose.

Yay! It’s time! I started at midnight, but need to get my post up on my Goodreads page. This year I have decided to donate a penny for every page read up to $5.00 or 500 pages to the Salvation Army. I generally try to put my pocket change in the bucket anyway, but this way I’m making sure of the amount given and around here Salvation Army is pretty major. I read mainly Kindle books, so a lot of time I don’t see or get a total page number count. SO I will see if the page count is listed on Goodreads, if it isn’t for the Kindle edition I will go by the page count of the most recent edition of that book listed. I think my daughter my read a little too this year, but I’m not sure. I usually don’t get 500 pages lately during read-a-thons, but I am certainly going to try! Have fun everyone!
